Dear Beth, For some, most I guess, genealogy is a hobby. For others it is a serious scholarly effort, backed up by years of training and determined research. This is not to say that a hobbyist cannot be serious, have no training or experience. But it is important to try to distinguish between the two. Neither Mr. Van Curen nor myself would waste our genealogical time with this thread that you find juvenile unless we thought it was important. Erroneous posts to this Forum, or anywhere, should not be left to stand on their own without challenge. Fortunately for hobbyists and genealogists alike, there are folks like Mr. Van Curen who will spend considerable time, taken away from their research time, to try to stop the recirculation of bad genealogy when it appears. There is a certain sense of responsibility in this. Yours, Richard Notify Administrator about this message?
