Henry VanScoyk was the son of Moses Van Scoik and Rachel Dorman (McDorman). There were Harvey D., Henry, Abraham, David and Jane. Their mother died in 1838. There was a guardianship case for some of the children. By 1840, Moses had married: Ruth Simmons. They had Charlotte Elizabeth. born 1840. Ruth then died shortly after that. For some reason??? Moses moved to Indiana after 1850. Possibly following Harvey D. (He was married) or for religious reasons. They all lived together in Elkhart Co. Indiana. Jane stayed in Darke Co. Age 15 in 1850- lived with Rebecca York Armstrong family. Charlotte also stayed in Darke CO. Age 10- lived with the Millers. The books say her name was Charlotte Jane (Wrong). She married Jacob Cable. Lived in Mercer Co. Ohio. Also the books say Jane died young- I think she just got married and someone lost track of her. Jane VanScoyk Hole. Look for Henry in Elkhart Co. Indidana. 1850,1860. more??? There are many spellings- Moses, son of Stephen Van Scoyok. Respond for more info. Thanks. Jane
