An affidavit by J. W. [James Wesley] Williams, dated June 2, 1914, states that when Jacob Fuls, Sr. died, one of his surviving children was Mary A. Fuls whose husband was Silas Vansky.
"Marriage Records, 1833-1918, Probate Court, Hardin Co., OH," at www.familysearch.org list the following:
Mary Ann Fuls m. John Monroe 31 Oct 1845
Mary Ann Monroe m. Silas Vansky 7 Nov 1850
Records for Harvey Cemetery in McDonald Twp., Hardin Co., OH state that John Monroe died 25 Oct 1849 aged 29Y 10M 3D. This appears to show that Mary Ann Monroe was a widow when she married Silas Vansky, but the Harvey Cemetery records also list Mary Ann Monroe, wife of John Monroe, died 8 Mar 1858? aged 33Y 9M 17D. This can't be the wife of Silas Vansky since Mary Ann was alive in 1914. Silas and Mary Ann are in the census for 1860, 1880, and 1900. I haven't found them in 1870. Can anyone explain this? Did John Monroe and Mary Ann Fuls get a divorce and then John Monroe married another Mary Ann before he died in 1849 ???
