As far as I can tell, the name VanScoy is an Americanized version of the dutch VanSchaick. I have yet to find a meaning of either one of those. Aaron VanScoy (born about 1775) was the son of Aaron VanScoy (born 1732 died about 1828). This Aaron was the son of Francis Sedan VanSchaick (born 7/7/1689, died 1754) and Isabel Rhea (born 1700, died before 1744). VanScoy, VanScoyoc, VanScoyk, VanSkike, VanSchoiack, and others are all variations of VanSchaick.
