In my source I have a Lewis Van Skyhawk. He was born 9 March 1824, Bradford County, PA. He died 1870, Mower County, Minnesota. He married a Mary Shulz, 20 Feb 1848, Carroll County, OH. She was born 1829, OH. They have the following children listed: Josephine, b. 1851; Frank (Ephraiam), b. 1853; Isabella, b. 1858; Ellen, b. 1863; and Cassius, b. 1870.
Lewis moved with his parents from Bradford Co., PA to Carroll Co., OH. There he married Mary Shulz in 1848. In 1852 the couple moved to Porter County, OH where they bought a farm. They moved to Racine T. in 1856.
If this sounds like it is your Louis, e-mail me. He would be descended from Cornelis Aertsen VanSchaick who was born ca 1610 and came to New Amsterdam in 1636.
