I am no longer pursuing Abigail Easterd as a Native American.Anyone using my previous post within their family history should substitute the following for (3):
(3) Further research indicates that this family was WHITE and not Native American. All family members are listed as WHITE in census (including Abigail who was indicated as a FREE WHITE FEMALE in the 1810, 1820, and 1830 Ashe Co NC Census) and they do not appear in any of the Cherokee Rolls or Indian Census. A noted Cherokee genealogist, Twila Barnes, explains that a great many fraudulent Eastern Cherokee Applications were filed by WHITE families in search of Cherokee money. That appears to be the case with the descendants of Abigail Easterd:
