Vannote Family Genealogy Forum
There was a group of VAN NOTEs, including a William and a Jacob, who were running the rivers between NYC & NJ during the Rev. War, as Tory bandits. They are referred to as members of the Pine Robber Group & in 1779/80 a bounty was placed on their heads by the NJ Gov. Among the other bandits was a John BURDGE.
I am trying to compile a list of all VAN NOTE family groups of this era, since the Tory affiliation MAY be the reason some are so hard to locate.
Would like to join forces with anyone also interested in this aspect of VAN NOTE history. Please reply direct: firstname.lastname@example.org
