I found my great grandfather in the Fort Smith arrest. I believe he was accused of shooting someones animal. He was cleared. On the arrest list he has an alias John Vannest. His birth name is Archealose K. (Ake) Bowles. His father is Burgess Bowles of Layfette MS. The sons served in the Civil War. Ake married a Gooch and they had three children. His wife passed away and he married my great great grandmother Elizabeth (Betty) Peters. They had two children. When the children were small Ake walked out the door for a walk and never returned. Some say he went to Stanley OK with a bother. They worked on the railroad. He was buried in Stanley. Others say he was buried in White Rock AR. Can anyone help with this mystery.
