In the 1920 census there is a Albert van Ness who is listed as the son of Harry and Mary Van Ness. Albert was born about 1907. Harry was 39yrs Mary was 38yrs.
Harry was a contractor and was born in Pa.

In the 1930 census there is a Albert age 24 who is listed as the son of Harry and Mary Van Ness. Both Harry and Mary
are listed as being 48 years old. They are living in Endicott Ny and Harry is a contractor.

I did not find a Henry yet. You said that Henry was Alberts father (your Grand father) Could Albert be living with his Uncle? Or was Harry your grandfather?

A Clue to the answer to your question may be that Harry was listed as born in Pa. as were his parents.
