Have you by chance seen the PBS special on African American genealogy?

There is an Abraham Van Meter who (I think fathered) may have had children with his slave?

I only watched part of it and I heard Abraham Van Meter from Kentucky mentioned and Abraham Van Meter from Virginia mentioned as well. These two Abraham's were cousins I think they said.

The documentary was very nicely done by Henry Louis Gates Jr. His ancestor was owned by an Abraham Van Meter in Virginia in the late 1700's.

This is a very good show called "African American Lives 2"

Good luck
