On 18 Nov 2006, a document was sold at auction in Maine (at Thomaston Place Auction Galleries). It brought $1500. The document was described as follows:

I VAN HOOK ABOLITIONIST MANUSCRIPT 1809

ABOLITIONIST MANUSCRIPT - Keystone speech of the Convention of Abolition Socities - held in Philadelphia, Jan 9, 1809, completely handwritten, with appended list of delegates and officers, signed by Isaac van Hook as secretary (the document is in his hand), and by Valentine Seaman as First Vice President. Col. Isaac van Hook commanded the 51st Regt of the New York Militia in the War of 1812, went on to become a Missionary; Dr. Valentine Seaman introduced the smallpox vaccine to the US, had published the first book on midwifery in this country, 'Midwives Monitor' of 1800. Unframed, on 10" x 15 3/4" stitched bifold wove paper, fine condition with minor bend and light stain. This was the convention that voted the funding for the construction of Clarkson Hall in Philadelphia. Still in use as the home of the Philadelphia Abolitionist Society. An exceptional historical record of the Abolitionist movement.

Does anyone have information on which "Isaac" this is?

Best, Herb
