Jemima Vane of Stepney, London c.1800
I am searching for one Jemima Vane who married (about 1802) John Hawley, cheesemonger, of Stepney, London, England. They had at least twelve children, three of whom emigrated to New South Wales, Australia, including my ancestor John Henry Hawley (1812-1897).I have baptisms for these children in the parish of St. Dunstan's Stepney, but no further information on Jemima, which appears to be a rare name. There is a Vane family in the 1851 census which may be connected: Henry Vane (born c.1801, Kennington, Surrey), married 1826 at St. Saviour's Southwark to Eleanor Booth Barritt (born c.1802, Lewisham, Kent), with children Henry Booth (1826), George Booth (1828), Eleanor Booth (1830), William Hammerton (1832), Edward Marriott (1833-1833), Edwin Marriott (1836) and James (1838).Any information on Jemima Vane, or other Vanes in the east end of London would be much appreciated.
