Thanks to Larry Van Dyke I've found that Catharine [Van Dyke] van Allen (b. 9/28/1801, Kinderhook, Columbia Co., NY, d. 9/1/1886, Wyoming Co., NY) and Cornelius Van Allen Van Dyke (b. 8/12/1818, Kinderhook, d. 1895 possibly in Beirut, Syria) - are first cousins.

Their common grand parents were Lourens (Laurence) van Dyke (bapt. 12/20/1738, Kinderhook?, Albany Co., NY, d. 7/14/1814, Kinderhook) and Maria van der Poel (b. 9/26/1744, d. 11/3/1823, Kinderhook).

Kinderhook was in Albany Co. until April 4, 1786 when Columbia Co., was broken off from Albany Co. It is still in Columbia Co.

Rev. Dr. Cornelius Van Allen Van Dyke became a medical missionary in Syria at the age of 21 after graduating from Jefferson Medical College, and he completed the definitive translation of the Bible into Arabic in 1865. (Beirut was in Syria at that time.)

I'm still working to find out how Henry Jackson van Dyke fits into the van Dyke family. Let me know if you have any ideas.
