Christopher Vandusen b. 1791 VT>NY
I have figured out my great-uncle John VanDusen's genealogy work was in error. We are not related to the Christopher VanDusen from Genesse New York (who's parents were Dirck and Betsy Dutcher Van Dusen).
My Christopher Vandusen was b. 1791 in Vermont (according to 1850 census NY, Steuben Co, Dansville), was married to Louisa and had children: John M. (1829), Adeline (1832), Arthea (1834), George (Aug. 21, 1836), Milford (1839), Morris (1842), Louisa (1846).
He is also on the Livingson Co., NY census for 1830 and 1840.I believe this family split up in 1850 as George Vanduzer was also listed as living with the R.K. Stone family. I also found a Civil War pension record for Morris C. Vandeusen who has the alias of George Stone.
In a letter to my great-grandmother Inez Vandusen, John says he was disappointed that his father George and Uncle Milford did not keep the second "E" in the name (Vandeusen). I believe he knew this uncle.
Any ideas where to go from here? Thanks much Anne.
