I found a deposition in Queen Anne's Co., MD by Edward Skinner which identifies 5 sons for George (Paulus) Vanderford vice the 4 that most report. This makes an accurate list of sons: Charles (b.c. 1675); George (b.c. 1685); JOHN (b.c. 1685-1695); Thomas (b. 1699); and William (b. 1690-1700).
This actually makes more sense where the records I quoted are concerned. The John Vanderford who witnessed the deed for Thomas Hillyard (grandson of John Hillyard) would be the son of George (Paulus) vice the grandson (previously I had identified as the only possibility being John son of Charles). That would mean that three of George (Paulus') sons went to Kent Co., DE: John, George and Thomas.
Another thing it makes sense of, the record (I have gleened from the Vanderford website and have not read) concerning John Vanderford living with Comfort Sipple (1713) would be this new John vice the son of Charles as has perviously been reported. Comfort appears to be the daughter of Waitman Sipple Sr., who begins to appear in Kent Co., DE records (late 1730's) with land records and depositions for many years being witnessed by Thomas Vanderford.
Because of the association between the Vanderford's and the Hillyard's; and the apparent distance in ages between Charles and the other 4 brothers; I am now inclined to believe that George (Paulus) was married twice: first to a daughter of John Hillyard, then to a daughter of John Hollingsworth.
