Joan,
According to information I have received, George H Vandiver died 1866 Lawrence Co Tn leaving a Will (I do not have a copy). Reportedly Andrew and Edward were mention as heirs that were non residents to the State of Tn. Another point that might help is Jeptha V. Vandiver's letters to his nephew P. W Vandiver (Pollard Wisdom Vandiver, s/o Edward Vandiver (ca 1806-1849, s/o George H Vandiver (1779-1866)) written ca 1872 in which he talks of family history. In the letters he also mentions that P.W. Vandiver's Uncle Andrew and G.W. Vandiver had return home for a vist years earlier, and in one he mentions his distress to hear of Andrew dissolving his marriage (divorced Lucinda). This is the same letters where Jeptha V Vandiver b 1807 SC reported that George Vandiveer father of Edward Vandiver (1748-1837) was a brother to Hollingsworth Vandiver (1730-1820).

A correction for the 1860 Mo Hickory Co H/H#155-155
Andrew Vandiver w m 47 SC
Lucinda Vandiver f 45 NC
John Vandiver m 13 Mo
Ann Johnson f 18 Mo
John E. Johnson m 10/12 Mo

1850 Mo Hickory Co P 55 H/H #154
Andrew Vandiver wm 37 SC
Lucinda Vandiver f 34 NC
Wm Y. Vandiver m 15 Tn
Edward F Vandiver m 13 Mo
Mary A Vandiver f 12 Mo
Lucy A Vandiver f 11 Mo
Jackson Vandiver m 8 Mo
John Vandiver m 3 Mo
McLinec Johnson m 13 Tn

It has been suggested that Andrew Vandiver did not marry Lucinda Southard until ca 1840, and she was married to Johnson previously and had son Mclinec Johnson. If this theory is correct then Andrew had an earlier unknown wife.
Note Edward F Vandiver was born in Mo while Mclinec Johnson was born in Tn approximatly the same year.
The Ann Johnson in the 1860 Census is the right age to have been married to McLinec Johnson by 1860 and he would have been the father of John E Johnson. It has also been suggested that Andrew divorced his wife and went off with Ann Johnson. So far none of this has been proven, but it is an area for more research. The divorce is correct, but why unknown.

I did locate a Andrew Vanderver w m 57 SC in the 1870 Jasper Co Mo p 176b Census with another family but I do not know if this is the same Andrew Vandiver that you are researching. Other than this I have not located him in later Census records. It is unknown when he died.

These are areas for research. If you will send me your name and address at coneliabarton@bellsouth.net I will be glad to sent you copies of Jeptha V Vandiver's letters. If I remember correctly these typed copies surfaced among Wellington Vandiver's papers, having been shared with him in the 1920's by a decendent that had the orignials.
