George: What is your source for the name of George for the father of Michael Paulus Van Der Voort? Most of the families I have corresponded with use the work by Wilson Ledley "The VandervoortVanderford Family" from the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record Vol. 108 -4 October 1977 +; and have his father as Paul and his grandfather as Artus (living in 1550). Michael married Marritje de Rapalye, the second daughter of Joris (George) and Catalyntje Trico De Rapalye. They had 9 children, with the youngest child, George, bap. 18 Oct 1656, who changed his family name to Vanderford.
All other children were named Vandervoort and some of them in later years used Vandervort. Even Vanderveer and Vandervier are derived from Michael Paulus.
I am descended from Paulus, bap. 1 Jan. 1649.
