Can you tell me who this Joseph E. Vanderslice is that is listed living in the h/h of Joseph Vanderslice, Jul. 5, 1870, Marion, Perry Co., Alabama. Joseph E.'s age is shown as 42. He has a sizable estate. It appears his age was corrected.
I have a Elias Vanderslice, b. abt. 1858, Al., son of the above Joseph & his third wife, Martha Palmore (July 13, 1860, Columbiana, Shelby Co., Alabama.) This census shows Joseph, 1818, Ky. as having a large estate. Has the census taker somehow messed this up in 1870? I have heard somewhere that Elias' name was Joseph Elias Vanderslice.
Joseph and Martha are both buried Oakmuglee Baptist Church Cemetery. Joseph has a Masonic headstone.
