Article from the 'Confederate Veteran' magazine,
dated June, 1929.
WILLIAM VANDERSLICE, who passed away at his home in Elk City, Okla., March 20, 1929, was born Oct. 7, 1847, in Nolensville, Tenn. The family moved to Arkansas whe he was only 16 years old , he enlisted under command of General Forrest and Capt. W.H. Cooper, in Company E, 2nd Arkansas Cavalry.
Comrade Vanderslice was a member of the Presbyterian church and was held in high esteem in the community. He was ill only a short time. His wife preceded him to the grave less than a year ago. He is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons, a sister and brother.
