Searching at Ancestry.com for John Johnson in 1850 census for Bradford Co PA, I get 17 hits. Ths spouse names are not indexed, and I have not checked all 17 microfilms. The two you mention are indexed as John G Johnson in Monroe Twp and John O Johnson in Durell Twp, although I think the middle initial on the Durell microfilm looks more like G than O.

Note that the Monroe Co family all show Race: Mulatto.

"Diana" (name seems to have been written over, might have been Deana) is 43 in 1850, which implies born about 1807. If Lovina was her mother, and if Lovina was born (as proposed in the Settler May 07 article) only two or three years before 1800, this could tend to disqualify this family as direct descendants of Lovina.

Also interesting is the fact that, living next door, are Richard Johnson 47 and wife Jane 44. If this is the Jane Shoemaker who has been getting involved in this discussion, then this Richard is not the husband I had previously assigned her to (Richard Dirk Vanderpool b 1784) so again some re-thinking is needed. Also note that Richard is mulatto and so are his wife and the first 4 of his 8 children. (???)

I'll come back to my comments on the Durell Twp Johnson family later.
