Dear Darcy,
This is my second reaction. My name is Gerardus J. van der Loo, born 1920 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Seeking descendants of the Vanderloo"s who lived in Auburn N.Y 1889 - 1990. These Vanderloo's (father, wife and two childern) emigrated in 1854 to Auburn. In my family tree they are conform the church- and civil registers administrated as:
Husband: Theodorus Arnoldus van der Loo, male, born 20-12-1809 Gendringen,
shoemaker, married 17-11-1838 Gendringen.
Wife: Wilhelmina Verheijen, born 08-07-1812 Netterden.
Children: Johannes van der Loo, born 02-08-1845 Gendringen;
Bernardus van der Loo, born 26-01-1850 Gendringen;
Antonius van der Loo, born 11-12-1852 Gendringen.
In an American book about immigrants the names were in 1870 described as:
Vanderloo A. age 60;
Vanderloo Amelia age 60;
Vanderloo Bennet age 20 and
Vanderloo Anthony age 16.
They had a house and land in Auburn where they (perhaps excepted Anthony) all died and were buried.
Recently I found they were buried (among other Vanderloo's) in Auburn N.Y.at the St. Joseph Cemetery. One of these others was a Ralph Vanderloo born in New York State, died in Hamburg N.Y. 01/28/1970. Other Vanderloo's who were buried in Auburn are:Catharine Vanderloo, died 1929, Catharine d 1941, Edward d 1990, Florence d 1953, John d 1916, Rose d 1974 and William d 1950.
If these Ralph (and the others) are related to your and my family it is sure that the family papers can be found till about 1700. They belong to the branche known by the Dutch Loo-Archive as: "branch Emmerich". This branche belong unquestionable (but not yet proved!) to the big van de(r) Loo/Loe family founded about 1256.
