I am doing research on the HOWELL family of Iowa. I have encounter a marriage of a Ernest Vanderlinden to Lavena Coon. Lavena is the granddaughter of Ivory Coon and Lucy Howell. The family spelled the name both Vander Linden and Vanderlinden.

Ernest is the son of Guy Nicholas Vander Linden and Margaret Catherine Fisher. They had 9 sons: Marvin, Richard, Ernest (above), Donald, Gerald, Herman, Keith, Leland, and Dale.

Guy Vander Linden was the son of Nicholas Garrett Vander Linden and Kommertje Sterrenberg. Nicholas and Kommertje had the following children: Guy (above), Ernest, Tossie (Harry) Dickey, Nettie (Charles) Howard, Anna (Fred) Moore, Harold, Jack, and Nathan.

Nicholas was born 1858 in Pella, IA and died 1937 in Clarke Co., IA.

Clarke Co. is the center of my research on the Howell family.

If any of this sounds familar, I would love to exchange info, especially wanting to know info on the descendants of Ernest Vanderlinden and Lavena Coon.

Thanks,
Linda Mitchell
