I couldn't help but comment on your discussion. I have a great great grandmother, Margaret Vanderhoof, who married Christopher Dennis. Margaret is first found in the census at age four, in Kent County, Michigan. (North of St. Joseph, Cass, Branch counties, where many Vanderhoofs lived, and south of Osceola Co.). She is the daughter of David D. Vanderhoof of Phelps, Ontario Co. NY. and Jane McCarter of St. Lawrence County, NY

Margaret lived with her husband, Christopher in Ensley Center, Newaygo County and then lived in Pierson, Montcalm County. Land was purchased that was next to her brother's land. Then upon their deaths, her husband and two sons, as well as her brother John D. Vanderhoof, and his namesake son, are all buried in the Pierson Twp. Cemetery. There is no indication that Margaret is buried there. She was younger than her husband and might have remarried and is buried elsewhere.

Margaret and Christopher were married in Branch county, MI, October 22, 1863. She was born in 1844 and he was born in 1817.

If this sound familiar to anyone, I'd like to trade information.
