I have obtained a copy of John Vanderhoof's 1827 will (proved 1830) from Manchester, Ontario County, New York. It lists his children as Garret, Andrew, Jacob, John, Rachel, William Wilson, Lucretia, and Allen Canada. There is a Calvin, age 1, died 1824, son of John and Sarah, buried in the Riverview Cemetery in Phelps, Ontario Co., NY. I have not found John nor Sarah's grave sites.

There is a chance that this line of Vanderhoofs went to New Jersey before they went to Ontario County. A online History of Ontario County (pub. 1878, I've not been able to locate a hard copy) stated that brothers John and Jacob arrived in Farmington (Manchester area) around 1798, followed by their father Garret in summer 1800. There is a Garret buried in Phelps, who died 1811 age 63. I would appreciate if anyone could help link this family to the New Jersey one; some of the given names are remarkably similar (Garret, Jacob, Rachel).

I have some more information Andrew and Allen Canada. Some of this line wound up in Branch County, Michigan, arriving between 1853 and 1870.
