I read this discussion starting with Paul's long history (thanks, Paul). I have a lot of somewhat spotty information on this family. I am descended from another Vandergrift back in the 1600s, but I do have information as follows:

Evert Antonius Van-de-grift

Leendertz Evertz Van-de-grift

Jacob Leendertsz Vandergrift

Leendert Jacobsz Vandergrift b. abt 1655 in NY died in Bucks, PA

Jacob Vandergrift b 1679 NY d. 1753 in DL

Leonard Vandergrift b 1718, d 1769 in DL

Leonard has six sons and daughters: Lydia, Susanna, Phoebe, Jesse, Ebenezer and Jacob. I show Jacob dying in Anderson, TN Apr 1828. These siblings match the ones that Paul listed.

I show Jacob having 9 kids, again pretty much mathcing what Paul listed and I show Jacob's wife as Sarah

I show his son Jacob being born and dying in NC. He married Jane Roberts.

I have most of the siblings from this line although I am not sure about the split between Lensert and Leendert who I show as the sons of Evert Antonius Van-de-grift. I got some information from someone else on this page that muddies the waters on Evert's kids. But anyhow, I thought I would provide this. It might help some of you make a connection further back in the line of Vandergrifts.
