Vandergrifts 1751 Tax List Dan River Virginia

I just stumbled into the following, look down and find the 1751 tax list for Dan River: http://www.vaughanpioneers.freeservers.com/Ancestry.htm

My branch of the Vandergriff family is my 4g-grandparents William Roberts and Ann Vandergriff who were married in 1784 Wilkes Co., NC and soon followed most of Ann's Vandergriff family through E. Tennessee. Ann's parents were Jacob (b 1744? DE) and Sarah who both died in 1828 Anderson Co., TN.

Can anyone help figure out who these Vandergrifts are? My Vandergriff line is supposed to be from Delaware, and I would guess that this listing might be before they settled in Wilkes Co., NC. After the Revolutionary War (William Roberts and Jacob's son Jacob Vandergriff were known veterans), most of them went through eastern TN. If the Jacob on Dan River in 1751 is my 5g-grandfather, he would have to be older than his claimed 1744 birthdate. Regardless, I would think one of the Lennards should be his father.

I found this actually following the line of Doswell Rodgers who's grand-daughter married a James Emmanuel Roberts. This Roberts family is so far unrelated to mine but there are some similiar names and locations. My William Roberts was not born until the early 1760s.
