Hi Michael,

I don't believe there is much difference as to how our surname is spelled now.
My surname is spelled VANDGRIFFT now, but as I've found out over the last 3 years, there are many variations of the original VANDERGRIFT.
What line are you looking for? My line is from Tennessee & Arkansas.
Hope this helps clear up the confusion on the spellings.
