Researchers may be interested in a recent addition to my website relating to the Vanderford family of Queen Anne's County, on the eastern shore of Maryland. This relates to Charles Wrench Vanderford (1753-1788), who may or may not have participated in the Revolution, as well as his ancestors, who came to America from Flanders in 1624. Charles had a son, William Vanderford (1787-1836). William had a son, Henry Vanderford (1811-1894), who became a prominent newspaper publisher in Baltimore and eastern Maryland. William apparently also had a daughter, Elizabeth Vanderford (1818-1888), who visited Pittsburgh and there met and married James Wilson Parker, and afterward they lived in Parker's Landing PA. My website traces their family down to the present day. The Vanderford family website does not mention Elizabeth as a daughter of William or as a sister of Henry, but some researchers believe she was in fact a daughter of William. She told census takers she and her parents were all born in Maryland. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with further information on Elizabeth's ties to the Vanderford family. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~boyerlinks/parker_long/parker.html#vanderford Notify Administrator about this message?
