Hello,
I am the great great great grandaughter of Barnard Van Deren and the great great grandaughter of John McClintock Van Deren and Louisa Coe Van Deren.
John M., his brother Archibald, and his sister Margaret along with their families moved from Illinois to the Boulder/Lafayette area of Colorado during the silver mining boom.
John had a son named Frank (my great grandfather)who was married to Margaret Lipsey. They moved to Paonia, CO (Delta County) sometime between 1902 and 1907.They had five children: Coe, Jesse, Elizabeth (my grandmother), Margaret, and another son who died at birth.Margaret, who is age 90, is the only member of this generation still living. She is still in Paonia.
John McClintock Van Deren andhis wife Margaret (Lipsey) Van Deren are buried in Paonia, Colorado.I saw their graves many times when I was growing up.Most of the descendants of their son Frank are still in Colorado.
During the 1960s my grandmother's cousin did some research on the history of the "Colorado Van Deren" family. Most of it appears to be factual, with a few dates being somewhat questionable. My family also posesses many photographs of the family taken at the turn of the century in Boulder, CO.
I would love to hear from you!
Tricia Johnson
