Thank you, I have considered the fact that John's ancestors could be Loyalists. He is said to be Pennsylviana Dutch, so his family would have come from the USA. I did find a Vanderburgh web site that mentions John, Peter and Richard but didn't have descendants for them. I will have to email the site owner. Is the NYGBR available in libraries or the Family history Libary?
