Robert -
Many thanks - I checked the Florida death index again, but Consuelo II remains elusive, even with a variety of searches. Muriel is there, and also in the New York Times.Muriel seems generally to have better press coverage, as both her birth and christening were covered in New York newspapers and as far west as Los Angeles.I've never found anything like this on Consuelo II, and finally had to order her birth record from New York City.On the other hand, the full collection of marriages and divorces for both of them appears to be well covered.
One last gleaning - from the New York Times, 12 June 1994, p. V9, which gives pictures from the family gathering on 27 May 1994 celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Commodore Vanderbilt.Virginia BURKE is shown with her daughter Cynthia MURPHY."Mrs. Burke's mother was Consuelo Vanderbilt 2d."Presumably the use of the past tense here implies that Consuelo II had passed on by then?
Regards,
Don
