Hendrik van Gout was an employee of the West India Company. He was in Recife Brazil in the late 1630s, probably arrived with the large number of ships and personnel that travelled to Brazil in 1636.I have an entry showing Hendrick van Gout and Margriet Hendrickse sponsoring a child for Willem Hendrickse, probably Margriet's brother, in the Recife DRC, 1637.Eventually I will return to Netherlands records and see if I can determine more about Hendrick....especially of interest is a baptism record for Margriet. If Mathijs and Margriet held to traditional naming patterns for their children, then Margriet's mother would be named Catryn.Their only other daughter, Annetje, was named for Mathijs' mother, Annetje Jansz.
