Amanda:

My g-g-grandfather was John D. Vancil, burn November 1824 in Tazewell County, Illinois. He married Sarah King and they lived in Benton City, Missouri. She died in 1869 and I'm sure he remarried a couple of times. He was a fifer in the Union Army during the Civil War and died in Hugo, Choctaw County, Oklahoma and is buried in a veteran's cemetary in Ft. Tawson, OK. Too many coincidences not to be some relation of your line. Feel free to contact me as I have his veteran's file from the civil War.
