The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) confirmed Edmond Vancel b.1725 d. 6-1-1815 a patriot. We have worked on our family tree since September 1999. At least two sources (i.e., Latter Day Saints) have published family trees showing Edmond Vancel as the father of Jonathan Vancel (b. 1747 d. 1817 m. Mary Penrod). Jonas is shown as purchasing land in Jackson and Union Co Il before 1840. We need a census, death certificate or will showing Jonas as father of Josephus Vancil of Perry Co. IL. 1860 Perry Co. census show Josephus as the father with son Elijah and other children in household. Death certificates prove my ancestor back to Elijah who was the son of Josephus Vancel. However, DAR requires proof of all relationships back to the patriot and proof that the ancestor was a patriot. If anyone has such such proof including death/birth certificates, wills, census or other documents on Jonathan Vancel, Jonas and Josephus and if Jonathan was a patriot please advise me? One note mentioned Jonathan as a member of the Sons of Liberty with a price on his head offered by Governor Tyron of Virginia.
