Can anyone give me a straight answer as who William Vance's parents and wife were? I have William's b. as 1718 either in Scotland or Ireland. Died 1788 in Washington Co Pa. I have his wife as Mary Colville Gilkerson, widow of a Gilkerson. I have listed 4 children: Col. Joseph 1750-1832. wife Ann Vance; David 1749-1816,wife Margaret Evans and Sarah Quimby; Mary 1752 m. David Newell; Elizabeth 1745-1844, husbands Wm. Colville Marquis, Edward Hoge, Henry Printz.
All the children were in born in Frederick Co Va.
Col. Joseph and wife Ann Vance's daughter, Mary 1786-1853 married Robert Lee Sr in 1800, which is my line.
Anything would be appreciated.
