Looking for the given name of a Vance that married Sarah Keltner either in Giles Co., TN, 1810 or later, or in Wythe Co., VA, 1809 or earlier. Sarah Keltner was born Aug 1791, in the Shenandoah Valley of VA and moved with her parents, Henry (Catherina Peters) Keltner Jr, and their family plus other Keltner, Lindamood and Peters relatives to Wythe Co., VA, in the later 1790's. Little is known about Sarah Keltner Vance until the 1850 Jefferson Co., IA, census, where she was enumerated with a Keltner niece as Sarah Vance. Sarah's siblings, Henry Keltner III, Solomon Keltner, Michael Keltner and Rebecca Keltner Fanning, along with their families had moved to IL starting in 1818, first to Madison Co., then on to Morgan, Cass and Menard Cos., IL. Only Henry Keltner III moved to Jefferson Co., IA, in the early 1840's so it is assumed Sarah moved to IA at that time with Henry III from the Morgan/Cass Cos., IL, area. Sarah may have been living with Henry III and family in 1840 IL. Since there is no marriage record in IL, it is believed Sarah was married to the unknown Vance in Giles Co., TN, sometime after Nov 1809, the approximate date her family moved from Wythe Co., VA, to TN. It is also possible that Sarah may have been married first in VA, possibly to a Fanning since the YDNA of the youngest thought to be son (bc1810)of her parents matches the Fanning YDNA and does not match the YDNA of an older Keltner brothers descendent's YDNA. The Keltners and Fannings were adjoining neighbors in Wythe Co., VA, with both families moving together to Giles Co. TN. Sarah's younger sister, Rebecca, did marry a Fanning son in Giles Co., TN, according to the War of 1812 Widows Pension papers of Rebecca, though no marriage record has been found in Giles Co. From the internet it appears that a Jacob Vance and his family were in Giles Co., TN, in the early 1810's. Seems as though information exists on all Jacob's sons except son Jacob. Could this younger Jacob have married Sarah and died sometime after 1815 and prior to 1840? Any info, ideas or suggestions appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
