Hugh Vans of Boston (1697-1763) was probably named Hugh after his maternal grandfather Hugh Crawford. Is he the first Hugh we know of? And if so, were some of the others called Hugh in emulation of him? Or where there already some Hugh Vances in America?

Thanks for your info. I'll add it to my data - and maybe one day some connection will show up!

Regards,
Jamie.
