James Vance Obituary, February 27, 1979

James Vance, Sr., 20 Market St., Benton, Columbia County, died at 10:30 PM Monday at his home after an illness of five years.
Born in West Caldor, Scotland, son of the late John and Agnes Elliot Vance, he lived in Benton the last 34 years. He had been employed as a meat cutter for the A&P Stores, Philadelphia for 12 years until retiring in 1967. Previously he owned the Benton Meat Market for approximately 15 years. He was a member of the Benton United Presbyterian Church. He and his, the former Janet A. Waters, celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on Feb 20.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. William Wary, Coopersburg; son, James Vance, Jr. Bloomsburg; brother Donald Vance, Rome, NY; sisters, Mrs. William Ludwig, Wyoming; Mrs. Jean Everett, Albany, NY; Mrs. Mae Driesbach, Lake Carey; four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday from the B.W. Kriener, Inc. Funeral Home, Benton, at the convenience of the family. Rev. Raymond H. Edwards, pastor of the Benton United Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment in Raven Creek Cemetery, near Benton.
There will be no viewing.
