Peter VanCamp c, 1771-1848 married Rhoda Brundage c. 1771-1830. Their children were Jacob b. 1792 (Mary Burke), Mary b. 1794, John b. 1796 (Jane Bradburn, Mary Ann McConnachie, Emaline Potter), William b. 1797, Jesse b. 1800 (Mary Ann Vernon?),
Lydia b. 1802 (John Casey Trull), Elizabeth b. 1805 (William Trull), Joseph b. 1805 (Sarah Briggs), Nancy b. 1809, Samuel b. 1811 (? Price), and Catherine b. 1813.
My theory is that your Samuel is the child of one of these brothers so his father could have been Samuel, Joseph, Jesse, John, or William because it was not Jacob. All of these brothers except Jacob and Jesse migrated to Sanilac County and I think that Jesse got married late in life so we might be able to eliminate him. The VCs started to migrate in about 1847 so your Samuel was probably born in Canada and then came with the later migration.
