Powell, Bonnie D.
Bonnie D. Powell peacefully passed away Jan. 28th, 2006 at the home of her loving caretakers, Marion and Robbie Rutherford. Bonnie was born Aug. 12th, 1926 to Clarence and Hattie Van Buskirk in New Castle Neb. Bonnie moved to Nampa Idaho with her family in 1941 and graduated from Nampa High School in 1943. Bonnie married Gene Powell in 1947. Gene and Bonnie owned and operated the Penny Wise Drug stores in Nampa, Caldwell and Twin Falls. They retired in 1973, making Nampa their home. Bonnie had a smile that could light up a room. She was always there to help out where ever she could. Bonnie made many Christmases much brighter, many Birthdays much sweeter and multiple family picnics much more fun. Bonnie had a flare for entertaining but on the same hand loved to go camping, and working in her flower garden. Every summer we could always count on seeing Bonnie's beautiful flower garden. Bonnie is survived by her stepdaughter Penny Bowerman of Boise: Grandsons Ryan and Kevin Berkheiser of Boise, Kevin's wife Kathy and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Stephen, Trace Paul and Marissa. She is also survived by three sisters, Velma and John Haily, Edith Curtin and Myrt and Ray Engelhardt, two brothers, Norman and Mary Lou Vanbuskirk and Leo and Mary Vanbuskirk. Eight nieces: Vicki, Connie, Kerri, Roberta, Deanna, Wendy, Sherri and Debi and two nephews: Darrell and Tom. All of our lives were richer since Bonnie touched them. We will all miss her deeply but will never forget all that she has done for us. God Bless you Bonnie ?We love you! She was preceded in Death by her Husband Gene, her Parents, Clarence and Hattie, Her Brother Don and Sister Alice. A family memorial is pending.
