Van Bibber's I need Help on this one...
I have just found a slip of paper that my grandmother who was a Bibber wrote down some time back judging from the age of this paper....but anyway, I need help because I am wondering if any of you have ever heard this before and if so could you please elaborate on this history. She wrote down,
"Van Bibber's were Heugenots (spelling?) of France and turned out of France because they turned Protestant, formed a Colony in one of the Carolina's."Anyone know anything about this?I sure would be interested to learn more. I have been told that the name Bibber comes from the French name Vibert, but I'm having some difficulty swallowing that one and am trying to determine how the Van Bibber's became Van Bibber's and was this always your original spelling of the name?I just feel somewhere deep inside that the name Bibber is a derivative of something German....Even Webber seems closer to me than Vibert. Any help or history lessons welcomed.
Thank You.
