Marjorie Ellen VanBeber Shawnee resident Marjorie Ellen VanBeber, 93, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 in a Claremore nursing home. Marjorie was born June 29, 1913 in Vernon, Kansas to Bert and Susan Tannahil. She gradualted from Vernon High School and received a teaching certificate from Pittsburg State University. In 1939 she married Maurice Cooper Vanbeber in Lyndon, Kansas. She was a school teacher for several years. Along with her husband, she was the owner and operator of the Daisy ! in Shawnee. She also was a homemaker and a par-time assistant librarian. Marjorie was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Sunday School teacher and Brownie Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader. She was a amateur artist, winning several awards for her paintings. She enjoyed church, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, walking, and having coffee with her friends. She also was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jim Vanbeber; five brothers and sisters. She is servived by two children, Bill Vanbeber of Shawnee and Margaret Eilene Allison of Adair, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 am Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Burress officiating. Burial will be at 4 pm Wednesday in Buffalo, Kansas.
