You might like to Google"Jacob Van Etten" Jacob arrived in New Amsterdam shortly after the colony was founded, and was given the surname Van(From) Etten (Etten was his previous home, (I understand Etten was part of present day Amsterdam). Jacob had several sons and grandsons. At least two of the Grandsons change the last name to Van Atta for some reason. One of the Van Atta descendants fought in the Revolution for the Army of New York, and was subsequently given a Grant of land on the Schykill River where he oprated a grist mill, and managed to sire eleven sons. Two of the Sons migrated to Ohio in the early 1800s. I was born and raised in Ohio, but have been unable to ascertain which brother is my ancestor. Colby Van Atta And that is the earliest that I have been ascertain of My Heritage. Notify Administrator about this message?
