Claude,
Thank You for your response and the information! We are not sure exactly how our name got changed but suspect it was because of english speaking clerks and the inability of our ancestors to read & write. There is also an explanation from another, please see Valliere Family Genforum message # 246, that it might have been done to hide the real name.

My Great Great Grandfather, Narcisse Valliere was born 26 November 1823 and migrated to Vermont, USA and married Catherine Desautels-dite-Lapointe 16 January 1844 in Burlington, VT. Catherine was born(as far as we know) in Essex Junction, VT. Narcisse's son Narcisse, "Nelson Value(?) Vallieres was born in Vermont. The use of "VALUE only adds to the question.

GGGF Narcisse was the son of Nicolas Valliere who married Marie-Desanges Parent 5 October 1801 in St-Henri de Levis, Quebec.

You might be interested that there were two or three brothers that migrated into New York State and changed thier name to VALYEAR. There is a large family with this name in the Parry Sound area of Ontario.

I am very interested in how you connect to Pierre and any information on your line of Vallieres. I am trying to connect as many lines as posible. Thank You!
