John Valia came to NH from Canada in 1851 and is shown on the 1880 census of Grafton NH with his wife Almina/Almira. At that point they had 6 children. In the 1900 census he is living with 2 additional children. John is living next door to his son Albert Eugene Valia.
The American-Canadian Historical Society in Manchester NH is a GREAT place to find records for people who lived in Quebec. And, everyone there is extremely helpful. You can see their site at www.acgs.org
I do have some interest in this person, too. I can share by e-mail additional names.
