Hi Carolyn,
I'm sorry but I do not find a Mathilda(the four I have end in e)married to a GOULD or a John (I have four & 2 Jack's) married to a Caroline GRENIER.They may be too recent [its hard for me to find the most recent]but I would like to connect them to my trees!
You did not mention dates or places, do you know where or when?Do you have John's parents?
As for the Indian features, many in my own family have them as do many of the French-Canadian people I have met.One of my Uncles had such distinctive features that he was regarded as having ALL of the features of a classic Mohawk Indian by an anthropologist. He spent most of his life trying to "find the Indian Ancestor" with no success. His conclusion was that there were many "dark skinned" babies born to the French-Canadians after the English wars when the English turned their backs on the activities of the raiding Indians, who can tell?
If you come across any additional info, I will be happy to check it against my file.I would appreciate your keeping me informed of anything you are able to find on your family line, I am always looking for more cousins.
LeRoy Valyou (another english variation of VALLIERE)
