Hey Sandra,
I found more info and thought I'd try to make contact again. My father's grandfather is Robert M. Valliant from Clay MS. I think he is Henry's brother. Robert was born 1859. We too have heard of native heritage. I recently found out way down the ancestry line of my paternal grandmother is Indian (as in Asia). Pretty cool!
