your message brings up the problem I have. I have a court record from 1834 Lawrence County Alabama which states Denton H. Valliant late of said county..... This implies to me that he died in 1834. Because the document says that in 1833 he built a hog and cattle pen right across from the Presbyterian Church, and really ticked off the Presbyterians and got them into an uproar. It is a comical situation to think about. anyway, I am not a relative, I am researching county history. So I now assume the Denton H. Valliant who was sheriff in Law Co. is a younger Denton H. Valliant, and that there was an Older Denton H. Valliant who died in 1834. I hope maybe this may help someone.
