Steve, according to The Valliants of Tidewater Maryland by JM Brumbley, pp. 215-216, your John Fletcher married Rebecca Rippy. John Fletcher was the son of Nicholas who married a Judith ? Nicholas' father was John Valliant Jr., mother Judith Bennett Jr. John Jr. was the son of the immigrant, John Valliant, who came to MD in 1685 from London, and married Mary Frith (the mother of John Jr.), Mary O'Mealey, and Judith Bennett Sr. John the immigrant was the son of Unknown Father Valliant and Mary Devallock (De Valock). Where and when did your family migrate, if they left the Eastern Shore?
