I am not related but this obituary was found in the Truth or Consequences, NM weekly newspaper for March 5, 2003 Philip W. Arnett Philip W. Arnett, 81, died on Friday, February 28, 2003, at the New Mexico State Veterans Home in Truth or Consequen- ces. Born October 17, 1921 in Greybull, Wyo., he was the son of Warren and Mary Ruddy Arnett. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. His passion was ranching and being the best cowboy he could be and he loved to run wild horses. He came to the area to be closer to his daughter, and he lived in New Mexico for more than 20 years, spending the last two and a half years in TorC. He is survived by his daughter, Linda L. Arnett of Winston; Rae Dawn Short of Riverton, Wyo.; a son, Kelly Arnett of Greybull, Wyo.; six grandchildren and his brother, Hugh Arnett of Cody, Wyo. He was preceded in death by a son, A.J. Arnett in 1999. There will be no local services. Private interment will be held in Wyoming. Arrangements are by French Mortuary of TorC, Inc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eunice M. Bryant Eunice M. Bryant, 93, a resident of TorC since 1952, died on Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at the Sierra Health Care Center. Born in Nashwauk, Minn., on July 20, 1909, she was the daughter of John and Kate (Nurkka) Koski. Mrs. Bryant owned and managed the Blackstone Apartments in TorC for many years and was a member of the Lutheran Church. She is survived by a daughter, Kaye J. Jordan of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Scott Jordan of Gilbert, Ariz., David Jordan of Sealey, Texas, Sandy Johnson of TorC, Debra Criddle of Las Vegas, Nev., and Robert Jordan of Las Vegas, Nev.; 11 great grandchildren and by 14 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Dahlquist in 1952. Graveside services were conducted on Saturday, March 1, at the Hagerman Cemetery in Hagerman, NM, with Scott Jordan officiating. Casket bearers were Scott Jordan, David Jordan, Robert Jordan, Cordell Criddle and Jay Johnson. Arrangements are by French Mortuary of TorC, Inc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Vera M. Hamerly Vera M. Hamerly, 89, died at the New Mexico State Veteran’s Home in Truth or Consequences on Monday, March 3, 2003. Born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 6, 1913, she was the daughter of William A. and Jessie J. Miller DeMann. She was a retired mortgage investment banker and had been a resident of TorC since 1970. She is survived by her Godson, James L. Wickstead of St. Charles, Ill.; and by her cousin, Susan Paperno of Westchester, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hamerly in 1984 and by a cousin, Dorothy Percy. Graveside services will be held in the Restlawn Cemetery in El Paso, Texas and will be announced by French Mortuary of TorC, Inc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roy R. Knighton Roy R. Knighton, 97, of TorC, died on Friday, Feb. 28, 2003. He lived in Chama, NM for 30 years before retiring in TorC in 1966. He is survived by his loving companion, Evelyn Pyles; daughter, Arta and husband, Leo of Chama; three granddaughters, Karlyn Smith-Bates of Edgewood, NM, Kelly Smith-Archuleta and husband, Pat of Stanley, NM, and Kristie Bonnell and husband, Joel of Glencoe, NM; grandson, Bud Smith of Glencoe; two great granddaughters, Kaylyn Bates and Harley Bonnell; great grandson, Shawn Smith of La Jara, Colo. He served on the board of directors for Geronimo Springs Museum for eight years and was a lifetime member of the Historical Society. He did lots of volunteer work for the museum, while a member of the board. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carlos S. Vallejos Carlos S. Vallejos, 57, died at Sierra Vista Hospital on February 26, 2003. Born in Arizona on Feb. 2, 1946, he was the son of Isabel and Emelia Herrera Vallejos. He was a rancher and lived in TorC for the past three years. Survivors include two daughters, Eleanor Romero of Phoenix, Ariz., and Isabel Vallejos of Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Phillip Vallejos of St. John’s Ariz.; brothers, Daniel Vallejos of St. John’s, Ariz., Willie Vallejos of St. John’s, Ariz., Ernie Vallejos of Glendale, Ariz., Es- quepula Vallejos of Henderson, Ariz., and Pat Vallejos of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters, Mary Ann Griego of St. John’s, Ariz., Mary Garcia of Grants, Priscilla Vallejos of St. John’s, Ariz., and Lottie Rines of Springerville, Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren. A Memorial Mass was celebrated Monday, March 3, at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John’s Ariz., with the Rev. Chacon officiating. Arrangements are by French Mortuary of TorC, Inc.
